Technical Buyer

We are recruiting on behalf of a well‑established engineering solutions provider delivering fast, effective mechanical engineering and MRO services across multiple industrial sectors. Operating in a demanding, customer‑focused environment, the business supports critical engineering requirements on a 24/7 basis.

Our client is seeking an experienced Technical Buyer to support their engineering and MRO operations. The role focuses on sourcing, purchasing, and managing engineering materials, components, and outsourced services to meet customer and operational requirements efficiently and cost‑effectively. This position plays a key role in ensuring on‑time delivery, supplier performance, and cost control
, while maintaining strong supplier relationships.

• Source and procure engineering products and services for customer and internal use
• Provide outsourced specialist engineering and MRO services
• Ensure timely and cost‑effective procurement aligned to customer requirements
• Monitor supplier lead times and delivery performance
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors
• Analyse market trends to secure competitive pricing
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and supply agreements
• Develop and implement procurement strategies
• Manage inventory levels and ensure stock availability
• Coordinate with internal teams to ensure smooth order fulfilment
• Maintain accurate purchasing records and procurement data
• Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and regulations

• Proven buying / purchasing experience within an engineering or MRO environment
• Experience in the commercial engineering sector
• Strong understanding of purchasing and supply chain processes
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Strong Excel and data analysis skills
• Confident negotiation and supplier management capability
• Organised, detail‑focused, and commercially aware

• GCSEs or equivalent (essential)

• Competitive salary of £42,000 per annum
