Position: Community Mental Health Staff Nurse - Older Adults Community Mental Health Team

Community Mental Health Staff Nurse – Older Adults Community Mental Health Team

The West Dunbartonshire Older Adults Community Mental Health Team (OACMHT) is looking to recruit a Band 5 Community Mental Health Nurse to manage a caseload of older adults with complex mental health and social care needs. The role involves comprehensive and holistic assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of health and social care requirements, working in partnership with patients, carers and other professionals or agencies in line with legislative frameworks, agreed standards and clinical policies.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for older adults
  • Managing and supporting a caseload in a variety of home/near‑to‑home community environments
  • Undertaking duties without direct supervision while supervising and supporting junior staff and nursing students, including line‑management supervision and clinical supervision
  • Participating in regular caseload line‑management supervision and clinical supervision sessions
  • Providing mentorship, preceptorship and contributing to the learning and development of the staff team
  • Demonstrating compassionate caring behaviours and promoting partnership working with patients, carers and other professionals

Shift pattern: Monday–Thursday 9:00 – 17:00, Friday 9:00 – 16:30

Requirements:

  • Live NMC UK pin
  • Band 5 qualification and relevant nursing experience
  • Strong understanding of mental health practice in older adults
  • Experience supervising and supporting junior staff
  • Excellent communication and partnership working skills
