Mechanical Engineer – Dumfries

Location: Dumfries

Salary: Circa £30,000 – £50,000 OTE (DOE)

Job Description

The Mechanical Engineer will work within Hydro International’s UK Wastewater Services (UKWWS) team, supporting water utility companies by improving sewage sites across the United Kingdom. This role is based at our Dumfries branch and involves significant site work, occasional weekend stays, and collaboration with other staff and trades.

Responsibilities
  • Install, commission, set up and test water filtration systems on sewage sites.
  • Carry out site inspections and fault‑finding and compile survey reports for quotation purposes.
  • Access and interpret technical instructions using mobile electronic equipment.
  • Work at heights, in confined spaces and outside on sites connected with wastewater (sewage).
  • Work away from home on a regular basis, requiring overnight stays.
  • Work intermittently in workshops across the country.
  • Collaborate as a team with other staff and trades within the business.
About You
  • Current valid driving licence.
  • City & Guilds qualified.
  • Successfully completed a recognised mechanical apprenticeship.
