Mechanical Fitter (Factory Based)

Homer Burgess is a family‑run mechanical engineering business founded in 1958 in Dumfries, Scotland. We design, fabricate, install, repair and maintain plant equipment and process machinery.

• Perform reactive and planned maintenance tasks across site facilities, prioritising safety and regulatory compliance.
• Service and maintain a diverse range of mechanical plant equipment and process machinery.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical breakdowns on all plant and process equipment, minimising downtime and ensuring continuous operations.
• Collaborate effectively within a team environment, promoting safety, compliance and best practices in mechanical maintenance.
• Proactively identify and report safety or operational issues to line management to maintain a safe working environment at all times.
• Occasionally support wider team activities during planned production changeovers or scheduled outages, which may occur outside normal working hours.

• Proven experience working with manufacturing process plant equipment.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, process pipework, and air‑handling equipment.
• Experienced individual who enjoys a structured working week of 37.5 hours, with flexibility to work occasional overtime when required.

• £Commensurate with experience – hourly rate.

• Working week Monday to Friday 07:30–15:30.
• On‑site parking.
• Occasional overtime to support reactive breakdowns and planned outages.
