232885 Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP)

Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) role at NHS Dumfries and Galloway – Dumfries Royal Infirmary, 30 hours, Band 7 permanent.

Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Advanced Nurse Practitioner to join the Medical Assessment and Hospital at Night team. The role delivers expert, patient‑centred care in a dynamic emergency setting, using advanced clinical skills and sound judgement.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver high‑quality care within agreed protocols and, when necessary, make independent clinical decisions guided by best practice.
  • Work autonomously and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, supporting senior clinicians.
  • Participate in the development pathway for a Trainee ANP (Band
    6) position progressing to permanent Band 7 upon successful training.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Postgraduate diploma in Advanced Practice.
  • Independent prescriber status.
  • Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge and sound clinical judgement.
  • Experience in emergency or assessment settings is desirable.
Development & Training

Successful candidates may be offered a 23‑month fixed‑term Trainee ANP post (Band 6, 35 hours). Upon completion the post becomes permanent Band 7 (30 hours). A bonding agreement requires remaining with NHS Dumfries and Galloway for two years after training.
