Applications are invited to work within NHS Tayside’s Emergency Medicine service which sees 85,000 new patients per annum across Tayside and North East Fife.
NHS Tayside has developed an Unscheduled Care system that proactively manages unscheduled ED attendance thereby minimising surges in demand and maintaining good patient flow. This is supported by a system of direct admissions by GP referred patients to acute medical and surgical receiving areas therefore this group do not stop in the ED unless requiring resuscitation. The consultant team play an active role in resuscitating, reviewing and redirection of appropriate patients.
The department is known for its interest in pre-hospital primary retrieval work via the Tayside Trauma Team and Ninewells Hospital is the location of the East Region Major Trauma Centre of the four major trauma centre Scottish Trauma Network
The Emergency Medicine service delivers high quality undergraduate education with the University Of Dundee Medical School and has an active interest in postgraduate education, audit, research and Quality Improvement
The appointee will join a dynamic and proactive team of 22 (20 WTE) Emergency Medicine Consultants. The post holder will be based in Ninewells Hospital, Dundee and Perth Royal Infirmary.
