Head of Estates

We're working with a well-established multi-brand retailer who is looking to appoint a Head of Estates into their growing Property Department. With an expanding portfolio and ambitious growth strategy, this is a pivotal role and a key stakeholder position in driving forward the company's wider expansion plans. Experience as Head of Estates or Head of Property Acquisitions within a retailer is essential for this role This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for an experienced estates professional who can confidently manage a national retail portfolio while leading a high-performing team.

You'll play a central role in protecting and enhancing the business' property position, minimising operational disruption and ensuring lease events are proactively managed and actioned. This is an excellent opportunity to join an established retailer with a major UK footprint, where you can influence strategy, lead a large-scale estates function, and play a key part in business growth. Key Responsibilities As Head of Estates, you will take full ownership of the estates function, including:
Leading, coaching and developing a team of Estates Managers Producing Board papers for senior stakeholders and Directors Monitoring and managing key lease events, ensuring they are allocated and actioned in a timely way Managing rent reviews and lease renewals from inception through to completion Negotiating with landlords and resolving tenant/landlord disputes swiftly and commercially Minimising disruption to stores by resolving operational property issues efficiently Making and implementing strategic decisions, balancing risk against long-term benefit Ensuring property costs align with lease liabilities where appropriate Taking overall responsibility for maintaining and improving the property database Managing and overseeing relationships with third-party professional teams To be successful in this role, you'll need:
Proven experience in a senior estates / retail property management role Strong commercial awareness and a track record of achieving positive negotiation outcomes Experience managing tenant/landlord relationships and third-party property professionals Strong knowledge of rent reviews, lease renewals and lease event management Ideally, experience in the acquisition and disposal of retail premises A track record of building and maintaining relationships across internal teams and external stakeholders Key Skills & Attributes Our client is looking for someone who is:
