Shunter Driver at Freeburn Transport

Freeburn Transport is currently looking for a Shunter Driver to join our team.

Shift pattern:
Monday to Thursday – 16:00 to 22:00 and Friday – 16:00 to 00:00. Hours are flexible and can be adjusted to meet applicant and business needs.

• Safely maneuver trailers and vehicles around the yard, moving units between bays, parking areas, and loading points.
• Coordinate with warehouse and transport teams to ensure trailers are positioned correctly for loading 토 and dispatch.
• Carry out vehicle checks: complete pre‑use inspections and report defects promptly.
• Maintain accurate movement records, logging trailer numbers, bay allocations, and movements.
• Adhere to site safety procedures: follow traffic flow rules, PPE requirements, and safe systems of work.
• Support yard organisation: keep the yard tidy, organised, and free from sechs.
• Communicate clearly via radio or site systems to ensure smooth coordination with colleagues and supervisors.

• Experience operating shunter units or similar vehicles.
• Strong awareness of yard safety and traffic management.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Basic mechanical awareness (e.g., spotting defects, understanding coupling/uncoupling).
• Valid driving licence (HGV licence preferred but not always required).
