Junior Engineer

Core Purpose of the Job

To assist the Senior Engineers in carrying out the full spectrum of the relevant MEP Services design under supervision of the Senior Engineers and to develop into a Senior Building Services Engineer.

Supervisory / Leadership / Managerial Tasks

• Assist Senior Engineers and Directors with technical reports, research and investigations as required.
• Assist Senior Engineers and Directors in the preparation of concept and design reports and documents.
• Register with ECSA and maintain candidate engineer status.
• Continual learning and development on the road to registering as a Professional Engineering with ECSA.

Role Dependencies

• Draughting Personnel
• Internal CKR disciplines for quality coordination of MEP services.
• External stakeholders [Consultants; PM’s;
  Architects; QS;
  Clients;
  Developers;
  Government Bodies etc.].

Discretionary Space - Independent Thought and Judgement

• Allow project strategy and objectives as set by Client and Senior Engineer to guide decision making processes.
• Alert Management or colleagues to issues and risks in any project or the business itself.
• Self-Development

Duties will comprise

General

• MEP Services design in the field of expertise.
• Carry out stages of Project according to the standard PROCSA agreements
• Project manager under the supervision of and be responsible to the higher management of CKR.
• Expand the client base of CKR.
• Represent CKR professionally. Be a brand ambassador.
• Be responsible for all Services designs or services that are created / devised and then issued out from this office.
• Create standard drawings for the CKR - standard specification.
• Financial reports on projects.
• Meetings with manufacturers and suppliers of materials and sanitary equipment and build a library of said.
• Provide reports to management when requested.

Due Diligence Reports

• Site investigation with reference to your area of expertise.
• Evaluation of the condition of all services in a building according to your area of expertise.
• Comparison of services with all regulations and requirements according to your area of expertise.
• Producing reports in the agreed standard format.
• Cost estimates

Concept Design

• Attend project meetings to obtain client requirements.
• Do draft design of relevant MEP services according to your area of expertise.
• Compile preliminary design reports.
• Provide cost estimates.
• Provide preliminary design drawings.

Detail Design

• Attend project meetings.
• Do detail design of MEP services according to your area of expertise.
• Compile detail design reports
• Provide cost estimates.
• Provide detail design drawings.
• Compile specifications and tender documentation.
• Compile bill of quantities.

Tendering

• Call for tenders as agreed per project.
• Tender adjudication and recommendations.
• Appointment of contractors and / or subcontractors.

Supervision During Construction

• Attend site progress meetings
• Inspection of works with reference to the tender and specifications.
• Handover of projects on completion.

Administration / Internal Management

• Plan your work every day and week.
• Complete work within agreed times and adhere to priorities.
• Plan your leave in conjunction with project engineers and project managers.
• Adhere to internal procedures and systems.
• Fill in time sheets daily, using the system as provided by CKR.
