Planner – Transport Management System (TMS)
MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
- The TMS Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling, and managing daily transport operations through the Company’s Transport Management System (TMS).
- This role ensures cost-efficient routing, optimal vehicle utilisation, and high service levels while maintaining full compliance with the South African Transport Legislation and Company Safety Standards.
- The Planner acts as the central coordination point between operations, drivers, customers, and carriers, ensuring accurate execution, real-time problem solving, and continuous improvement in transport performance.
- Matric (Grade 12); a Diploma or Degree in Logistics / Supply Chain Management will be advantageous;
- Proficiency in MS Excel and general IT systems; 3–5 years' experience in transport planning or logistics operations;
- Hands-on experience with TMS platforms (such as Trackmatic, Cargowise, Oracle TMS, SAP TM, Fleet Ops, Mix Telematics);
- Strong knowledge of South African Transport Legislation and operational constraints; experience with route optimisation tools;
- Exposure to FMCG, retail distribution, mining, bulk logistics, or line-haul operations.
