Job Overview
Are you a Physiotherapist looking to take on a substantive role within a highly specialist service? Join the therapy department at Queen Victoria Hospital. The role covers three inpatient clinical areas – Burns, Major Head and Neck Cancer Surgery and Plastic Surgery – and involves acute, rehabilitation and outpatient management of patients. You will work directly with a multidisciplinary team of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and pressure garment technicians, and support two other band 7 physiotherapists and the Therapy Services Manager.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver advanced clinical assessments and treatments to a caseload of adult patients on rehabilitation pathways across the Burns, Head & Neck and Plastic Surgery areas.
- Provide input to clinical governance meetings and drive service development within the clinical areas.
- Create and deliver bespoke training to less experienced therapists, students, support workers and the wider multidisciplinary team (MDT).
- Work alongside Speech & Language Therapists, Dietitians, Nursing Team, Psychological Therapists and medical colleagues (Surgeons, Anaesthetists, Intensivists) to provide coordinated care.
- Lead joint departmental initiatives, evaluate service performance, and implement developments that meet evolving caseloads and departmental needs.
- Manage clinical and administrative duties including completing PDRs, staff development, performance management, recruitment and workforce planning.
- Registered physiotherapist with extensive experience in burns, head and neck or plastic surgery rehabilitation.
- Strong clinical assessment and treatment skills for adult patients.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities, capable of training and mentoring junior staff.
- Proactive, self‑motivated, and passionate about maintaining high standards of patient care.
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary team and contributing to clinical governance meetings.
