Senior Quantity Surveyor
Galldris Group is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor for our Sizewell team. Applicants must come from a Civil Engineering background and hold a full UK driving licence.
Key Accountabilities- Analytical Thinking & Decision Making:
Orders information and systematically checks data; prepares activity and resource schedules; critically appraises, estimates, and negotiates with third parties. - Planning:
Reviews contract programmes such as Time-Location; assists with delay and disruption programmes. - Project Management:
Monitors subcontract activities, measures and responds appropriately; analyses commercial progress and reports to senior project staff; manages commercial aspects with customers and stakeholders for their area of responsibility. - Procurement:
Undertakes constructability analyses using construction programmes; prepares procurement programme and helps develop strategy. - Commercial Management:
Analyses rates & prices, agrees on variations and compensation events; undertakes customer and stakeholder management; prepares, submits and negotiates claims when required; prepares internal reports, commercial progress and financial reconciliation; complies with company procedures.
- Wide experience of civil engineering and ability to manage all commercial aspects of a project; fluent in contract law and terminology.
- High proficiency in operating NEC3 Options A, B and C contracts.
- Capability of producing robust cost plans and CVRs and presenting to regional managers/board.
- Experience managing a team.
- Good knowledge of and adherence to the company’s GMCEs, BMS and other governance.
- Degree in Building Surveying or similar technical qualification (HND/HNC).
- Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Membership.
- CSCS Card.
- Ability to use a range of IT packages, Microsoft Office and bespoke packages.
- Exceptional relationship building skills.
- Self‑motivated, proactive with commercial awareness and understanding of the construction process.
- Negotiation skills and ability to apply those skills internally, externally and with the supply chain.
- Positive attitude at all times and ability to integrate and play an active part in the construction team.
- Good organisational skills and ability to prioritise to meet deadlines.
