Site Agent – Eastbourne

Solution is proud to be working exclusively with this leading national civil engineering contractor who holds a reputation for being dynamic, innovative and focused with a fun culture.

Due to continued growth and success our client is seeking an experienced Site Agent in our Southern Region to initially work on a large critical infrastructure scheme near Eastbourne in East Sussex. The programme is about 18 months long and the project commences in early 2026. The scheme involves highways and bridge construction works.

Responsibilities
  • Management of site staff, operatives and sub-contractors.
  • Provide method statements, hazard risk assessments and project management plans.
  • Understand tender allowances and monitor contract costs against agreed budgets.
  • Preparing and monitoring programmes of work.
  • Assessment and engagement of sub-contractors.
  • Manage design co‑ordination and control project risks.
  • Manage contracts to ensure timely and profitable completion of contracts.
  • Inform, consult, and involve local groups as necessary.
  • Foster good relations and reputation with clients.
  • Understand and administer contract change.
  • Supervise, mentor and assist in the career development of junior staff.
Qualifications
  • Already experienced as a Site Agent or Senior Site Agent with a relevant industry qualification (HND/HNC/BEng) or equivalent and an up-to-date SMSTS qualification, and appropriate CSCS card. A First Aid at work qualification is desirable.
  • Experience of managing civil engineering projects with a main contractor along with previous experience on Highways, Earthworks and Structures.
  • Must be eligible to live and work in the UK and have a full UK driving licence.
  • Be able to maintain and monitor works against a programme and budget.
  • Ability to prioritise own workload.
  • Able to run multiple complex and non‑complex sites.
  • Maintain comprehensive records.
  • Compliance with current legislation requirements, including the production and implementation of RAMs and other associated safety/project documentation.
  • The ability to forecast cost and programme.
