Production Maintenance Engineer
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Production Maintenance Engineer to join our Laundry team supporting the site of a Laundry based at Eastbourne District Hospital.
We are seeking someone with excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, who is self‑motivated with a problem‑solving approach working on electrical and mechanical systems. You will have the ability to respond positively to changing workloads and priorities, with a willingness to undertake varied responsibilities.
The successful candidate will be a competent multi‑skilled person with recognised experience or qualifications within the field of engineering maintenance.
The role is for 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday) with a rota weekend shift pattern and flexibility for reactive breakdowns outside of normal working hours. We provide a staff pension and 22 days holiday (plus Bank Holidays) per year. Please note this is not an NHS position.
Maintenance Engineer – Person Specifications Qualifications- A full level 3 technical certificate in a mechanical, electrical engineering discipline and completion certificate from a recognised advanced apprenticeship.
- Alternative recognised qualifications (e.g. Engineering NVQ 3, National Diploma in Technology / Engineering etc.) and suitable work‑based development.
- Skill in maintenance, fault‑finding, test & repair work on complex engineering services & equipment, with the ability to work unassisted in varying, often technical environments whilst complying with Health & Safety / environmental regulations and standards.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation, ACOPs, guidance and rules.
- Developed physical skills to fulfil maintenance duties requiring dexterity and coordination gained through training and experience.
- Ability to maintain and repair installations, plant and equipment to keep unplanned downtime to a minimum.
- Work from and understand detailed engineering drawings and specifications and ensure that current regulations are followed at all times.
- Ability to learn new techniques to develop skills as appropriate to ensure that the most effective methods are used in the course of your work.
- Quality and performance standards to ensure that allocated work is completed effectively and efficiently.
- Work overtime to carry out planned work with reasonable prior notice and deal with emergency repairs, as required by management – often at very short notice as well as weekend cover.
- Friendly, enthusiastic and self‑motivated with a pro‑active, positive attitude.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail. IT literate.
- Ability to work well on own initiative and also as part of a team.
- Able to work well and keep calm under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Excellent people skills and able to deal with problem issues and escalations.
