This role is a key component of the Trailblazer Project, delivered in partnership with Blaenau Gwent Council’s Community Options team. The project is designed to enhance inclusive employment opportunities for individuals affected by Additional Learning Needs (ALN) across the Blaenau Gwent region. By fostering stronger connections between the local workforce and individuals with ALN, the project seeks to reduce employment barriers, promote equality, and create sustainable pathways into paid employment.

The Employer Liaison Officer will serve as a vital link between employers and individuals with ALN. The postholder will be responsible for engaging with local businesses, understanding their workforce needs, and promoting disability confidence and inclusive practices within the workplace. By developing strong relationships with employers, the officer will identify and create meaningful employment opportunities, including work trials, placements, and long-term positions, ensuring that opportunities are tailored to meet the skills, abilities, and aspirations of ALN individuals.

Additionally, the Employer Liaison Officer will provide ongoing support and guidance to both employers and ALN individuals, helping to navigate workplace adjustments, build confidence, and ensure successful transitions into employment. This includes monitoring progress, addressing challenges, and celebrating achievements to ensure that placements are not only initiated but are sustainable and rewarding for all parties involved.

This role is crucial in driving forward the vision of inclusive employment in Blaenau Gwent, creating a workforce that values diversity and empowers individuals with ALN to achieve their full potential in the workplace.
