An exciting opportunity has arisen for an outgoing and highly motivated Assistant Accountant to join a growing client accounting team within a professional financial services environment. This role offers exposure to a diverse portfolio of corporate and fund entities, alongside the chance to develop technical expertise, client‑facing skills, and commercial awareness.
You’ll work closely with trainee and qualified accountants, gaining hands‑on experience in a fast‑paced, collaborative setting that values initiative, continuous learning, and high standards of service delivery.
The RoleReporting to an Associate Director, you will play a key role in coordinating the delivery of monthly and quarterly financial reporting for a varied client base. Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing quarterly management accounts for high‑volume corporate clients and smaller Limited Companies, Limited Partnerships, and Limited Liability Partnerships, including direct client liaison where required.
- Preparing VAT returns and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and deadlines.
- Supporting trainee accountants with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
- Overseeing the preparation of payments and expense claims, with potential responsibility for payment approval depending on qualification level.
- Reviewing postings of client invoices and expense reports prepared by finance assistants.
- Assisting with the preparation of drawdown and distribution notices for fund entities.
- Preparing statutory financial statements, including primary statements and notes, ensuring accuracy and appropriateness across a range of entity types.
- Liaising with auditors and tax advisers, responding to audit queries, and coordinating the timely filing of returns via auditor portals.
- Providing constructive challenge to clients and advisers to promote strong governance and best practice.
- Building and maintaining strong internal and client relationships by delivering an excellent level of service and understanding evolving client needs.
- Communicating effectively with key internal and external stakeholders.
The successful candidate will be a part qualified accountant and will demonstrate:
- Experience preparing management accounts and financial statements for Limited Companies and Partnerships.
- Confidence in dealing with third parties and stakeholders at all levels of seniority.
- A collaborative, team‑focused approach with experience working in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to use initiative when managing competing priorities.
- Experience using Xero and Microsoft 365.
