What They Are Looking For

Our client is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to support the delivery of major projects within the built environment sector, based in Edinburgh. The role sits within an established commercial team and reports to senior commercial leadership, working closely with project directors, client stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams.

This position has been created to support sustained growth and a strong pipeline of secured work across large, complex programmes. The successful candidate will take ownership of key commercial work streams, contribute to governance and reporting, and play a pivotal role in managing risk, cost control, and commercial outcomes.

This role will suit a confident, commercially astute senior professional who enjoys operating at both strategic and delivery levels, balancing detailed commercial management with senior stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities
  • Commercial management of major built environment and infrastructure projects
  • Preparation and management of cost plans, forecasts, and CVRs
  • Contract administration and commercial governance under relevant forms of contract
  • Management of risk, change control, and cost reporting processes
  • Procurement strategy support and supply chain commercial management
  • Assessment and agreement of variations and final accounts
  • Providing commercial advice to clients and internal stakeholders
  • Supporting project directors with financial and commercial reporting
  • Contributing to business improvement and best-practice initiatives
Criteria for the Role
  • Significant experience operating as a Quantity Surveyor on major or complex projects
  • Strong background within the built environment, infrastructure, or large-scale construction sectors
  • Excellent commercial and contractual knowledge
  • Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to operate autonomously while contributing to wider commercial strategy
  • Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
  • Professional accreditation (RICS or equivalent) preferred
