Arts Council of Wales has announced Wales in Edinburgh 2026 - a showcase fund designed to support Welsh and Wales-based artists to present their tour-ready work at the world-renowned Edinburgh Festival Fringe
.

Arts Council of Wales has supported work at the Fringe for many years, with approaches evolving over time to reflect the needs of artists and the sector. Previous supported productions include:

  • The Rest of Our Lives by Jo Fong and George Orange in 2022, which went on to tour Vietnam and Indonesia.
  • Hijinx’s Meet Fred in 2016 that has toured to 22 countries
  • Luke Hereford’sPolly & Esther in 2024 that earlier this year toured to the Adelaide Fringe festival in Australia.

The programme aims to shine a spotlight on the best of Welsh theatre, dance, music and circus, helping artists to build international connections and secure future touring opportunities.

“Wales in Edinburgh is about using the Fringe as a global platform ,” said Catryn Ramasut, Director of Arts at Arts Council of Wales. “It’s an opportunity for Welsh artists to reach new audiences, connect with international industry professionals, and realise their touring ambitions.”

The fund is designed to support a continued Wales presence at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2026, building on recent support through the Wales Edinburgh Fund 2024 and the Wales Edinburgh Bursaries 2025, including Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Between three and four projects will be selected to receive up to £30,000 each, contributing towards the costs of performing at the festival. Proposals should demonstrate artistic quality, audience appeal, and clear potential for future touring.”

The Final date to receive applications for Wales in Edinburgh 2026 is 1pm, Monday, 12 January 2026.
