Graduate Supportability Engineer

At Leonardo in Edinburgh, we are looking for graduates to join the Radar and Advanced Targeting Business Unit to become Supportability Engineers.

Our Graduate Supportability Engineers will undertake design analysis and influence the ability to easily support our next generation of Ultra High Performance Radar Systems, Laser and Electro‑optical Systems and Inertial Navigation Systems.

Our 18‑month Graduate Programme gives you the opportunity to work on exciting and challenging projects alongside subject‑matter experts.

On joining, you will receive a starting salary of £34,000 per annum, plus a £1,000 welcome bonus and you’ll also be eligible for a £1,000 exit bonus upon successful completion of the programme. In addition, you may be eligible for a Temporary Accommodation Allowance (TAA), subject to specific criteria.

We encourage you to spend at least three days each week on site to integrate with your team and maximise your learning experience.

Key Responsibility Areas
  • Generating, assessing and delivering the analysis of the Reliability, Maintainability, Testability and Safety (RMT&S) characteristics of our new products and product upgrades
  • Analysis covers a variety of technologies including optical, mechanical, low power and high power electronics, digital and analogue control and processing and RF transmission
  • Develop support processes and customer operational needs to help develop support solutions using state‑of‑the‑art modelling, simulation tools and test environments
  • Work closely with Systems, Mechanical, Laser, RF, Electronics and Software engineers to identify and avoid real support‑related problems on complex systems before they reach the customer’s environment
  • Be involved in investigation and assessment of reliability, maintainability, testability and support solution methodologies to enhance and improve the future capabilities of Supportability Engineering within Leonardo
What We Need From You

All of our roles require (a) a minimum of a 2 Bachelors/Integrated Master’s degree, or (b) a higher degree, such as a MSc or PhD.

For the Graduate Supportability Engineer role, acceptable degrees include:

  • Aerospace Engineering
  • Physics
  • Mathematical Sciences
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Electrical and Electronic Engineering

Other degrees will be considered.

Security Clearance

This role is subject to pre‑employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). An additional range of Personnel Security Controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NSV) may apply, which could include meeting the eligibility requirements for The Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).
