Job Description

Senior Cost Manager (Transmission & Distribution)

We’re looking for passionate Senior Cost Managers with Transmission and Distribution experience to join our teams across the North, Midlands, and Scotland Region operating from 8 regional offices, to work on a variety of interesting and challenging projects, both nationally and locally. You will be joining a growing team of like-minded people passionate for innovation and delivering cutting‑edge solutions.

• Lead the successful delivery of cost/commercial management services on multi‑disciplinary Transmission, Distribution and Power Systems projects.
• Client‑side cost/commercial management, including stakeholder, risk, and contract management.
• Ensure projects and commissions are delivered to the satisfaction of the client for budget management.
• Support and manage the cost/commercial management team ensuring appropriate resources are provided on projects, meeting the client and business requirements.
• Actively manage contractors and subcontractors’ payments and final accounts in accordance with contract conditions.
• Develop strong relationships with clients and members of the cross‑functional team.
• Support business development opportunities with existing and new clients.

• Experience working within a client organisation, either directly or through a co‑location/secondment arrangement.
• Highly competent in the use of NEC suite of contracts, particularly the Professional Services Contract (PSC) and Engineering and Construction Contract (ECC).
• Experience working as part of integrated, multi‑organisation, collaborative teams.
• Infrastructure and cost/commercial management experience, delivering complex projects.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Highly motivated with an excellent industry network.
• Relationship building skills – ability to build strong relationships with clients, teams, and stakeholders as well as an ability to build and maintain networks of business contacts.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• A team player with a ‘can‑do’ attitude, outgoing, polite, patient, diplomatic, personable, respectful, and flexible.
• Experience of working with NGET business processes, supplier requirements, national development process 500.
• Experience working on projects in Substations, Overhead Lines, and Cables 33kV – 400kV with DNO or TO.
• Understanding of the UK Transmission and Distribution System along with associated plan and equipment.
• Professional Development:
