Sustainable Waste Management Consultant

SLR Consulting, a global environmental consultancy located in Edinburgh, seeks an early‑career Consultant to join our Sustainable Waste Management team.

SLR Consulting is a leading provider of environmental advisory services to local authorities, waste producers, the waste industry, regulators and investors. We advise on municipal, commercial, industrial, hazardous, and circular economy waste and resource solutions.

Client & Technical Service Offerings

  • Waste strategy, options appraisal and plan development
  • Service reviews and infrastructure assessments
  • Circularity and sustainability studies
  • Waste logistics assessments
  • Public sector waste support (e.g. procurement)
  • Private sector waste company support (e.g. bid development)
  • Financial sector advisory (e.g. investment due diligence)
  • Support for construction companies and waste technology providers

Job role and responsibilities

  • Conduct research, data collation, processing and modelling for a range of projects.
  • Support preparation of reports and presentations.
  • Assist senior team members across engineering disciplines (Process Engineering, Civil Engineering, Carbon & Energy Management).
  • Contribute to proposals and client deliverables.
  • Support the growth of the Sustainable Waste Management team.
  • Research best practice and innovation in waste and resource management.

Qualifications and experience

  • Relevant degree (Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, Environmental Science or similar).
  • Experience in a waste management setting or related industry.
  • Full UK driving licence required.
  • Strong analytical, communication and research skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a group.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Excel functions.
