This is a wonderful opportunity to join my client, a highly-regarded, eco-conscious Multidisciplinary Consultancy, dedicated to broadening their geographical reach by establishing a new office location in beautiful Scotland. Renowned for lending their expertise to a diverse range of projects across the landscape architecture, planning, and civil engineering fields, they are actively seeking a skilled, driven Principal Civil Engineer with extensive knowledge of infrastructure design, who is willing to win, manage, and successfully deliver an array of challenging projects across the region.

You will have a genuine hand in establishing and leading a team of design professionals, based in the scenic, culturally-significant Scottish Capital City of Edinburgh.

Responsibilities for the role of Principal Civil Engineer include:

Overseeing several projects and developments
Managing the day-to-day running of projects at all stages of the process, from inception through to successful delivery and implementation
Providing mentorship and support to colleagues as they progress through their careers, overseeing their Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
Building and maintaining important professional relationships with clients and other stakeholders
Preparing, checking, and submitting technical documents, including reports, drawings, calculations, risk assessments, and more
Subscribing to and promoting company policies, procedures, and best practice
Enforcing the appropriate health and safety standards and regulations at all times
Contributing to the company's business development strategies, acting as a trusted representative at client meetings, site visits, etc.

Required skills and experience for the role of Principal Civil Engineer include:

A UK Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent qualification) in Civil Engineering
Possess Chartered Status with a recognised Professional Body (e.g., ICE)
Extensive experience in a design-based role, within a UK-based consultancy setting
Demonstrable experience of working with infrastructure (particularly drainage and highways), housing developments, and energy projects

Experience of earthworks design and drainage network modelling
Proficient in the use of various software packages (to include Civils 3D, Micro Drainage, AutoCAD, etc.)
Considerable experience of writing, checking, and amending reports and other technical documents for submission

Experience of managing people and projects within the sector
Prior experience of managing client and stakeholder relations, influencing Business Development (BD)
Outstanding organisation, time management, team leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Hold a full, valid UK driving licence

Desirable skills and experience for the role of Principal Civil Engineer include:

- A UK Master's Degree (or equivalent) in a related discipline

- Experience of authoring Flood Risk Assessments

- Experience of preparing Transport Assessments

- Experience of working in a public-facing role
