Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Lead – Mine Water Project (Edinburgh)We’re looking for a proactive M&E Commissioning Lead to join our team on a high‑profile mine water treatment project near Edinburgh.
In this role, you will work closely with the design team to define subcontractor packages, update equipment and instrumentation scopes, develop the commissioning plan, supervise others and oversee installation onsite.
You will plan and coordinate the installation of all M&E works, coordinate subcontractors’ work packages, and ensure all risks are managed and mitigated with protective plans in place.
You will motivate your team, build strong client relationships, and ensure subcontractor collaborative planning to drive delivery.
Successful delivery of the Edinburgh project would be followed by the potential of progression within JN Bentley, offering opportunities to take on wider responsibilities, guide a growing team, and play a central role in shaping the framework from the start.
What You’ll Do – What The Lead Role Includes- Provide technical line management, support and assist on site M&E and Commissioning Engineers.
- Work closely with the internal and subcontract design team to define equipment and instrumentation scope.
- Develop and manage the bespoke testing and dry commissioning plan and oversee onsite delivery.
- Plan and programme the installation of mechanical and electrical works, coordinating subcontractors for efficient delivery.
- Identify risks and opportunities, ensuring protective plans are in place to safeguard programme milestones.
- Build strong team spirit in design and onsite, improving collaboration and positive client relationships.
- Ensure compliance with Client Specifications, WIMES and JN Bentley Ltd standards, while supporting health & safety initiatives and driving daily improvement.
- Contribute to strategic procurement and subcontractor performance management.
Position Requirements
- HNC/Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Process Engineering (or equivalent experience); ideally an electrically biased candidate with prior Electrical Authorised positions.
- Solid understanding and experience of commissioning M&E and Process projects within clean and wastewater treatment environments.
- Experience with the planning and commissioning process from the planning stages to client handover.
- Strong organisational and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- A Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across your region.
