Manufacturing Apprenticeship – Manufacturing
Leonardo offers a range of Apprenticeships from 3‑4 years across a variety of STEM and business routes, offering paid training coupled with on‑the‑job learning that enables you to gain practical skills, experience and knowledge to set you up for a successful career. The entry salary is £17,850, and you will receive full support for your academic learning through to qualifications, with salary increases as you progress.
ProgramOverview
You will start with 6 months of college training, followed by day‑release for the remainder of the programme. Early Careers team members at each site will help you progress, protect your study time, and provide access to digital learning and local community and STEM projects. The apprenticeship is designed to develop your technical, practical and academic understanding of the manufacturing lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities- Attend college full‑time to complete an SVQ Level 2 during the first six months.
- Engage in rotational placements across Mechanical Assembly, Electromechanical Assembly, Electro‑Optic Assembly, Environmental Facility, Logistics, Manufacturing Engineering, Machine Shop and Repairs.
- Maintain written logs of day‑to‑day tasks and gather work evidence for your Diploma portfolio.
- On completion of Year 3, undertake a final placement focused on a specific discipline and achieve an NC Engineering and an EAL Diploma in Engineering SCQF Level 7.
- 4 National 5 (A‑C) or equivalent.
- Mandatory Mathematics/Application of Maths or Physics & English.
- Two technological subjects (e.g. Graphic Communication, Product Design, Tech Studies, Computing, Woodwork, Metalwork).
Note:
This apprenticeship is for candidates with limited engineering knowledge and is not suitable for those who already have an NC/Foundation Apprenticeship in technical/engineering.
The role requires pre‑employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). Additional National Security Vetting (NSV) may apply, potentially requiring SC or DV clearance.
