AboutThe Actuarial Team
The Actuarial team is part of the Insurance Risk Consulting (IRC) department, offering traditional actuarial services across general and life insurance, including reserving, capital management, Solvency II assessment, IFRS 17 compliance, and other regulatory requirements. We serve insurance companies across many lines of business—aviation, cyber, property, motor, individual & bulk care annuities, whole‑life, unit‑linked, and more—both in the London Market and Lloyd’s across the UK and Europe.
AboutThe Role
Our Actuarial team helps insurance organisations manage financial risk by analysing past data and advising on the financial implications through in‑house reserving models. Graduates in this program will gain expertise in reserving, data analytics, regulatory reporting, and key consulting skills. Supported by a diverse team of experts, you will have access to formal training, e‑learning, and opportunities to work with some of the world’s most recognisable companies.
AsPart of Our General Insurance Team, You Will
- Perform independent calculations to estimate reserves for different classes of insurance;
- Perform detailed testing of claims data to challenge management on trends in large and unusual movements;
- Review the methodology and assumptions selected by management in the calculation of reserves.
- Create independent cash‑flow models for annuities, whole life, and term assurance, and compare the outputs with client models;
- Review methods to derive assumptions such as lapse, mortality, longevity, trends, morbidity, expenses, discount rates (deterministic and stochastic), and matching adjustments used in the cash‑flow projection models;
- Use actuarial techniques to create independent expectations for annuities, whole life, term assurance, and health products.
- Providing support in writing technical reports;
- Assisting in creating presentations in non‑technical language for non‑actuaries;
- Developing client relationships through meetings, social activities, and gaining an understanding of their business/industry.

What We’re Looking For- On track to achieve or having obtained a 2.1 or above in a relevant degree (e.g., Maths, Physics, Economics, Engineering, or Actuarial Science);
