Job Description

WA is supporting a well-established professional services organisation to appoint an experienced Legal Cashier into a high-volume, highly regulated finance function.

This is a permanent, full-time role based in Edinburgh, offering a hybrid working arrangement and the opportunity to join a collaborative and knowledgeable cashiering team.

The Opportunity

You'll play a key role in maintaining accurate client and office account records, ensuring full compliance with HMRC VAT requirements, the Law Society of Scotland Solicitors' Accounts Rules and SRA Accounts Rules. The role offers responsibility, variety and the chance to work within a structured and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Processing and allocating bank receipts across client and office accounts.
  • Setting up and reviewing electronic payments (including CHAPS, BACS, Fast Pay and international transfers) with full AML checks.
  • Processing payments, receipts, transfers and bill payments within the financial management system.
  • Managing transactional activity across designated client bank accounts.
  • Reviewing cheque requests and resolving reconciliation items.
  • Liaising with partners, fee earners and internal teams on financial transactions.
  • Supporting audit processes and contributing to team meetings and process improvements.

What You'll Bring

  • Previous experience as a Legal Cashier within a high-volume environment.
  • Knowledge of Solicitors' Accounts Rules (Scotland and/or SRA preferred).
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Understanding of HMRC VAT and AML regulations.
  • Confident communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
