About The Role
This post will enable continued provision of clinical pharmacy services to oncology inpatients, leading a small team of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacy support workers to deliver pharmaceutical care to a bed base of 80 patients across 5 wards. The Edinburgh Cancer Centre (ECC) lies within the Southeast of Scotland Cancer Network (SCAN), providing day‑case, inpatient and outpatient services for oncology and haematology patients.
The pharmacists at ECC are integral to the multidisciplinary team and are highly valued to ensure accurate and safe delivery of systemic anticancer therapy. Alongside safe provision of SACT, the haematology team play an essential part in the safe and effective medicines use in patients admitted for complications of their cancer, treatment, or for symptom control. The post holder will also have responsibility for coordination of education for pharmacy and medical undergraduates, and for contribution to protocol and guideline development through departmental SACT & medicines governance groups.

About You
- A Master of Pharmacy Degree (or equivalent).
- Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
- A Clinical Diploma or Master’s in Clinical Pharmacy.
- An Independent Prescribing qualification.
- Proven experience in pro‑actively influencing prescribing in a cancer setting.
- A track record of delivering person‑centred pharmaceutical care.
- Candidates who have not completed a Postgraduate Clinical Pharmacy Diploma or MSc in Clinical Pharmacy must demonstrate substantial progress across the four pillars of the RPS Core Advanced Pharmacist Curriculum through:
- Engagement with the RPS Core Advanced Curriculum
- Active participation in a community of practice/peer network
- Submit a screenshot of portfolio (programme of learning page)
- Complete the RPS learning needs analysis tool to assess progress with the Core Advanced Curriculum and any gaps that will need addressed as part of PDP plans
- Candidates who have completed a Postgraduate Clinical Pharmacy Diploma or MSc in Clinical Pharmacy should complete the learning needs analysis (LNA) using the LNA tool in the RPS e‑portfolio, identifying any gaps that will need addressed as part of PDP plans.
