Software Engineer, Routing and Switching - C Programming

Ciena is seeking a skilled Software Engineer to join our Routing and Switching team. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and testing innovative software solutions for advanced networking products.

• Designing and implementing high-performance software for routing and switching platforms, incorporating Carrier Ethernet and IP Routing protocols.
• Participating in the full software development lifecycle, from concept to deployment and ongoing support.
• Contributing to the architectural design of complex software systems, focusing on scalability, reliability, and performance.
• Developing and executing comprehensive testing plans to ensure product quality and system requirements are met.
• Effectively managing time and prioritizing tasks to meet project deadlines and deliver high-quality software.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
• Proven experience in Software Development, including coding, debugging, and testing in virtualized and containerized environments.
• Proficiency in software architectural design and software design principles.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Good self-management skills and proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

• Solid grasp of TCP/IP Networking concepts.
• Familiarity with Layer 2/3 networking protocols, such as routing and switching, QoS, VPNs, and segment routing.
• Exposure to Broadcom Ethernet Switching chipsets.
• Knowledge of SDN concepts, Data Plane operations in VM / container environments, and advanced networking protocols.
