Dev Ops Engineer – hackajob (in collaboration with Leonardo) – Tempest project
Your impactThe battlespace in which air forces will operate in the future continues to evolve, and to counter the threats of the future, industry is creating a next generation air combat system which is agile, flexible, connected, and affordable. That next generation is Tempest – the RAF's newest combat aircraft, coming into service from 2035 to replace the existing Eurofighter Typhoon.
As a Dev Ops Engineer, you’ll…- Enhance the Tempest project’s Dev Ops capability, especially in the areas of automated test, automated deployment to hardware, and acceleration of software releases
- Work in or alongside the central Dev Ops team to identify enhancements to the pipelines required by the software engineering team
- Develop and maintain our Dev Ops tooling, making it robust and enhancing the developer experience
- Support troubleshooting, and provide guidance on secure CI/CD practices across the team
- Help to administer and integrate core tooling and infrastructure, including build systems, artifact repositories, and security scanning tools, while managing server resources and ensuring compliance with security standards
- Support rigorous qualification of the tooling and infrastructure to enable its use with projects adhering to the DO-178C software development standard
- Programming/Scripting (e.g. C++, Python, JavaScript)
- CI/CD pipeline design and administration (Jenkins, Gitlab)
- CI/CD application and server administration
- Automation, monitoring and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices
- Writing clear technical documentation, guides and specifications
- Containerisation technologies (Docker, Podman)
- Strong problem‑solving and engineering mindset
- Familiarity with the software development lifecycle
- Knowledge of the DO-178C software development standard and associated DO‑330 Tool Qualification guidelines
- Effective communication and teamwork
- Curiosity, creativity and a drive for continuous improvement
This role is subject to pre‑employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). An additional range of Personnel Security Controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NSV) may apply, including eligibility for The Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).
