Database Architect Analyst

Harvey Nash are now recruiting for a Database Architect / Migration DBA (Oracle / SQL Server)

• 12 Months
• Remote working - with some office time spent in Edinburgh
• Outside of IR35

• responsible for planning, preparing and executing database migrations that support the wider application migration programme. The role covers both SQL Server and Oracle databases hosted on-premises and migrating into Azure or a co-location data centre. The DBA will also assist in defining and building the required database server infrastructure within the Azure landing zones or co-lo platforms to ensure compatibility, performance and operational readiness.
• This role ensures that all databases are migrated safely, data integrity is maintained and hosting environments are correctly configured for each application workload.

• Strong experience as a SQL Server DBA and/or Oracle DBA supporting enterprise environments
• Hands-on experience with migration tools and techniques for both SQL Server and Oracle
• Skilled in backup and recovery operations, performance tuning and troubleshooting
• Knowledge of building and administering SQL Server or Oracle on Azure VMs or co-lo platforms
• Understanding of networking fundamentals relevant to database connectivity
• Experience supporting or migrating:
  • SQL Server databases
  • Oracle databases
  • Databases underpinning .NET, web or client-server applications
• Ability to diagnose complex database issues during high-pressure migration events
• Comfortable working within structured change control processes

• Experience with Azure SQL or SQL Managed Instance
• Experience with Oracle on Azure or hybrid environments
• Scripting capability using Power Shell, T-SQL or PL/SQL
• Previous involvement in large-scale migration or data centre exit programmes
