Overview
We are looking for 2 Cleaning Assistants to join our team on a part-time (15‑hour) permanent basis at our Craiglockhart campus.
Shift options:
- 2 pm – 5 pm, Monday – Friday (including non‑term time)
- 5 pm – 8 pm, Monday – Friday (including non‑term time)
- Minimum of 41 days annual leave (pro rata)

RoleThe role of Cleaning Assistant is to provide a clean and safe work environment for students, staff and visitors to the university.
Cleaning Assistants will be expected to work across all campuses when required.
Daily duties will involve cleaning offices, all kitchen areas, labs, meeting rooms, stairways, toilets, showers etc. You will ensure that set guidelines are followed and all statutory obligations regarding the use of chemicals, manual handling and working with machinery are adhered to.
ResponsibilitiesProvide an excellent service to a high standard.
Work on own initiative but also as part of a team.
- Demonstrate good communication skills.
We are looking for someone who can deliver a high standard of service. No specific qualifications are required but we value experience and a proactive attitude.

- COSHH awareness/training
- Experience of working in a cleaning role
- Experience of cleaning a large site to a high standard
The advert will be running on a rolling basis until we find the right candidates for these permanent positions. Interviews will be conducted in mid‑Jan in the new year, 2026.
