Job Description Senior Cost Manager - (Rail Sector)

Are you a senior cost/commercial management (Infrastructure) professional looking to work on projects that make a difference and enhance the world around us? If so, we are looking to attract the finest talent to be part of this journey.

We are looking for Senior Cost Managers (Infrastructure) to join our teams across our North, Midlands and Scotland Region operating from 8 regional offices, to work on a variety of interesting and challenging projects, both nationally and locally. You will be joining a growing team of like-minded people that have a passion for innovation and delivering cutting edge solutions.

Here’s what you'll do
  • Lead cost/commercial management commissions, taking responsibility for their successful delivery.
  • Help ensure commissions are managed and completed efficiently, on budget and to the client’s satisfaction.
  • Accountable for the cost/commercial management of projects, in accordance with the GRIP or PACE.
  • Help identify and monitor project risks (threats and opportunities), plan and implement mitigations to them, and respond to other issues that affect the project.
  • Assist in the management of stakeholders, taking account of their levels of influence and particular interests.
  • Provide the required reports and attend project reviews at appropriate points throughout the project lifecycle which will inform governance decisions of.
  • Establish, and implement, wherenecessary, cost/commercial management protocols to change the scope of projects and update configuration documents as required.
  • Accountable for the production and maintenance of project documentation, including timelines,
  • Provide support to project manager on contract management services on NEC4 contracts, administering through a contract management system.
  • Advise the client on procurement strategies and review tender documentation.

Approach to all projects requires a high degree of flexibility and creativity, excellent presentational skills and an ability to communicate effectively with clients and consultants. The successful candidate shall be charged with the delivery of cost/commercial Management Services within our Client focused and highly motivated professional team.

Here’s what we’re looking for

  • A minimum 5 years’ experience, providing a full spectrum of cost/commercial management services including general contract management and administration, proactively engaging with relevant stakeholders and ensuring delivery within the agreed parameters.
  • Excellent experience and knowledge of NEC3/4 contract management, ideally with PM accreditation.
  • A relevant degree such as in quantity surveying or equivalent.
  • Experience of working in the Rail industry with an understanding of railway systems and processes such as GRIP or PACE.
  • Successful relevant experience in a cost/commercial management environment
  • Experience of project budget management and ability to understand and interpret commercial and financial landscapes (budgets, forecasts, actual status).
  • Ability to undertake and successfully complete security screening checks.
  • Preferably MRICS or equivalent
