The Head of Data Centre Programme Delivery is a newly created hands‑on role, responsible for ensuring that all major investment programmes (capacity expansion, technology upgrades, infrastructure modernisation and complex client transitions) deliver operational capacity that meets Pulsant standards for resilience, efficiency, and sustainability.

We are flexible on base location for this role. It can be based from any of our offices (Gateshead, Edinburgh or Maidenhead) or any of our 14 data centres. We work on a hybrid basis (3 days a week in the company base location and 2 from home).

Key responsibilities
  • Provide oversight and direction for all major data centre development programmes across regions and sites.
  • Organise Pulsant’s data centre capital investment roadmap into a coherent, risk‑managed portfolio of projects with clear objectives, governance, and outcomes.
  • Lead programme execution, ensuring alignment between design, commercial priorities, and operational readiness.
  • Integrate multiple delivery streams including construction, engineering, client migrations, and operational enablement into unified outcomes.
  • Engage early in the design process to ensure operational input on buildability, maintainability, and lifecycle performance.
  • Translate design intent and technical standards into executable delivery programmes.
  • Maintain strong feedback loops from live programmes to support continuous improvement in Pulsant’s design and delivery standards.
  • Ensure all programmes deliver operationally ready environments with full documentation, testing, and training in place.
  • Ensure compliance with Pulsant’s safety, resilience, and sustainability standards throughout delivery and handover.
  • Establish consistent governance structures across the programme portfolio ensuring transparency, accountability, and control.
  • Maintain a portfolio view of dependencies, risk, and resource demand.
  • Provide concise, strategic reporting to senior leadership on progress, risk, and outcomes.
  • Manage programme budgets, forecasts, and cost performance ensuring value for money and compliance with procurement standards.
  • Lead and develop a small team of programme and project professionals fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration, and delivery excellence.
  • Act as the single point of accountability for coordination between Operations, the Office of the CTO, Commercial, and external delivery partners.
What / who we’re looking for
  • Experience leading the successful delivery of complex, multi‑site capital programmes within data centres, to time and budget.
  • Experience managing internal project teams, stakeholders and external delivery partners.
  • Experience leading governance and assurance processes for safety, quality, and sustainability.
  • Experience partnering with design and commercial stakeholders to align delivery outcomes with business priorities.
