About the Role
Open Book is looking for a part‑time Co‑Director to support the running of its community programme across Scotland. The role is an integral part of the leadership team, working alongside Claire Urquhart to manage day‑to‑day operations and shape future development of Open Book. Open Book has been a multi‑year funded organisation for 12 years, and the new Co‑Director will build on this foundation to strengthen the charity’s impact.
Responsibilities- Lead and support the day‑to‑day operations of the community programme.
- Collaborate with Councils, boards and partners to secure funding and foster new alliances.
- Provide vision and strategic direction for the organisation’s future development.
- Make confident decisions, manage resources, and ensure the programme meets community needs.
- Three years (or more) experience in a similar charity leadership role.
- Strong decision‑making skills and experience working with boards, funders and partners.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Deep understanding of Scotland’s cultural landscape and community literature initiatives.
• The role is part time (3–4 days per week) with a salary of £45,000 FTE.

Start date:
1 May (with limited flexibility), with the transition completed by late May 2026.
