aday in the life of a commis chef at doubletree by hilton edinburgh city centre what you'll be doing...
- assist in the preparation and cooking of high-quality dishes in accordance with rbh recipes and standards.
- maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen workstations, ensuring adherence to food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- learn and master basic culinary techniques under the guidance of senior kitchen team.
- support the chef de partie, sous chef and head chef in maintaining inventory levels and ordering supplies as needed.
- follow instructions and complete tasks assigned by senior kitchen staff in a timely and efficient manner.
- follow proper food handling procedures, including temperature monitoring, labelling, and storage, to ensure food safety and prevent contamination.
- embrace opportunities for learning and development, seeking feedback from mentors to enhance culinary skills.
- the ability to adhering to the company’s rules and regulations on policies and procedures relating to fire, hygiene, health & safety, and licensing regulations.
- the ability to manage various sections of the kitchen, whilst ensuring health & safety standards are met.
- to be flexible in your approach, and able to assist the sous chef and any other members of the kitchen brigade when required.
- a team player who thrives in the hustle and bustle of a busy kitchen department.
- someone who is passionate about food and willing to learn.
- an understanding of quality control and kitchen standards.
- previous experience in a similar role is essential.
