Overview

JVL Homeware Solutions (John Veitch Ltd) is one of the UK’s largest distributors of Homewares with over 30 years’ experience supplying bespoke products and exceptional customer service. We import and supply a broad range of mats, decorative and plastic storage, cleaning tools & accessories to a wide independent and national retail customer base.

We are seeking an experienced sales professional to join our sales team as Sales – Territory Account Manager - North East England & Scotland
, focusing on developing and growing existing retail accounts, reigniting dormant accounts, and proactively identifying new business opportunities across channels adjacent to our traditional customer base (Discounters, DIY Retailers, Grocery, Garden Centres, etc.). The role may be based in the North East England or Central belt Scotland with flexibility for the right candidate.

Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, hardworking individual to join an experienced team. You should be self-driven, reliable and conscientious. As the customer-facing representative of the company you will need to be smart, personable and able to maximise sales opportunities, understand margin requirements, and achieve budgets and sales targets measured across KPI’s.

Main Purpose and Scope of the Job
  • Managing a portfolio of existing customers, identifying new commercial opportunities and maximising these to increase gross profit/margin.
  • Building strong relationships with customers, understanding their business strategy to ensure JVL is their homeware supplier of choice.
  • Agreeing and achieving gross profit targets per customer and annual targets with JVL management.
  • Resolving any customer issues that may arise.
Responsibilities
  • Proven experience as an Account Manager
    , delivering results in a retail-facing, target-driven environment. Homewares experience is advantageous but not essential.
  • Minimum two years’ experience in product-based sales
    , with a strong track record of achieving KPIs and driving revenue.
  • Confident in developing customer ranges
    , with the ability to upsell, cross-sell and consistently improve gross profit per account.
  • Strong relationship-building skills
    , with demonstrated success in managing and nurturing customer partnerships.
  • Positive, charismatic and solutions-focused
    , able to bring ideas, resolve issues and contribute proactively.
  • Highly knowledgeable about products & trends
    , staying informed on both our own ranges, competitor offerings and relevant trends.
  • A strong team player
    , able to work collaboratively with telesales and internal teams to deliver a seamless end-to end customer experience and support prospecting activity within your territory.
  • Competent in using a variety of internal systems to maximise productivity and support effective planning.
  • Organised, proactive and self-motivated
    , capable of planning efficient, productive days to make the most of field time.
  • Able to produce clear and timely daily, weekly and monthly reports to approved timelines.
Person Specification & Qualifications
  • Sales experience within a B2B retail environment, with proven success selling into independent retailers across multiple channels.
  • Proven track record of sales achievements.
  • A collaborative team player who can operate confidently and effectively without close supervision.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office based programmes & interfacing CRMs.
  • Having existing contacts within the retail channel would be advantageous but not vital.

Attractive basic salary £30,000 plus based on experience, with opportunity for additional bonuses based on performance (Genuine OTE = £37,000).
