Job DescriptionJob Role: Security Officer
Working Hours:
- Position 1: 40 hours per week – 5 out of 7 days, flexible as per the rota.
- Position 2: 32 hours per week – 5 out of 7 days, flexible as per the rota.
Pay: £13.30 per hour
Location: Waverley Market Shopping Centre, 3/48 Waverley Bridge, Edinburgh, EH1 1BQ
Reporting to: Operations Manager / Contracts Manager
OverviewWe have two experienced Security Officer positions in Edinburgh to support our expanding team at Waverley Market Shopping Centre. The role involves conducting regular patrols, monitoring activity, responding to incidents, liaising with the public and site staff, and maintaining accurate records. A strong presence, attention to detail and commitment to security standards are essential.
Responsibilities- Protect the client’s property, people and assets by following the Assignment Instructions and site‑specific procedures.
- Prevent losses and damage by reporting irregularities and informing offenders of policy.
- Escalate incidents in a timely, accurate manner to Control Room, Shift Manager, Operations Manager or Emergency Services.
- Operate and monitor site CCTV equipment.
- Complete reports by recording observations, information, occurrences and surveillance activities.
- Maintain the organisation’s stability and reputation by complying with legal requirements.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Act as a first‑line supporter to customers and visitors, providing a professional and friendly service.
- Respond appropriately to customer queries and requests.
- Maintain professional conduct at all times.
- Full 5‑year employment history (checkable).
- Valid frontline SIA licence (DS or SG).
- Customer service experience and confidence in conflict handling.
- Flexibility to meet job requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Smart appearance and well‑groomed.
- Reliable and punctual.
- High level of enthusiasm and passion.
- Ability to work in a fast‑moving environment.
- Access to nationally recognised courses via the Anchor Academy.
