** What you’ll do
** As Lead Software Engineer you'll be tasked with a variety of responsibilities that are crucial to our success. This is a leadership level role and will blend both technical expertise with a great passion for coaching and developing people, including advocating team wellbeing.
* Lead and mentor a multi-skilled team to deliver high-quality, innovative solutions to support business goals.
* Participate in the full software development lifecycle to design, build and deliver maintainable, testable, observable and resilient software systems.
* Collaborate with feature teams and third parties to identify and implement creative solutions that align with business objectives.
* Use agile tools, methodologies and data to monitor progress, addressing any issues promptly to ensure timely delivery. Identify and mitigate risks to ensure successful implementations to live.
* Develop and document processes to improve engineering efficiency and service quality.
* Engage in continuous improvement initiatives, fostering an environment of learning and growth within the team.
* Management of Third Party Suppliers to ensure solutions are performant, secure and resilient, and meet bank objectives and client needs.
* Monitor and analyse service performance metrics to continually improve our offerings.
* Accept 24 7 accountability and ownership to support availability, currency and performance.
* Ensure that all engineering activities align with industry standards and regulations.
** What you’ll need
*** Proven experience in a leadership role within engineering, with a track record of mentoring and developing talent.
* Strong commercial experience in the full software development lifecycle working with at least two of the following languages and frameworks (React, Redux, JavaScript, Type Script, HTML5, CSS3 Java 17+, Spring Boot and relational databases)
* Breadth of technical understanding across software development and architecture, service operations, Dev Ops, and cloud.
* Experience of agile development practices, Dev Ops pipelines, continuous integration / deployment, test automation and the E2E software development lifecycle.
* Strong communication skills, dynamic and adaptable, with the ability to facilitate efficient and effective decision-making. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with a diverse range of collaborators.
* Experience of managing Third Party Suppliers in the context of providing software solutions, including the configuration and testing of such products.
