Accounting Assistant – 1 Full‑Time, Temporary Position (Edmonton)
Join the Health Sciences Association of Alberta as an Accounting Assistant. This temporary position (ending December 31, 2026) supports the finance team by handling expense claims, accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and general accounting support.

The PositionReporting to the Manager of Finance, the Accounting Assistant will ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance in financial transactions, contributing to the overall efficiency of accounting operations.
Responsibilities- Process expense claims for staff, board members, and members in accordance with policy.
- Enter and code invoices, reconcile vendor statements, and process payments to vendors and service providers.
- Post payments, prepare deposits, reconcile accounts, and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Assist with account and bank reconciliations, support month‑end and year‑end close, and provide documentation for audits.
- Maintain accurate and organized digital and physical records using Sage 300 and related systems.
- Respond to inquiries, provide administrative support, and contribute to process improvements within the finance team.
- Entry‑level accounting professional who is detail‑oriented, organized, and eager to build a finance career.
- A diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of two (2) years of relevant accounting experience, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reconciliations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel (pivot tables, reconciliations, and data analysis).
- Experience with Sage 300, Norming AP, or Union Ware is an asset.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

- Competitive compensation: $37.17 – $45.22 per hour, commensurate with experience.
