Agilus is recruiting for a Process Engineer in the Oil and Gas industry in Redwater, Alberta.

We are seeking a skilled Process Engineer to join a dynamic team supporting refinery operations. In this role, you’ll optimize production, troubleshoot processes, and collaborate across departments to ensure safe, efficient, and profitable operations. This is a maternity leave coverage position starting January 6th.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor and optimize assigned process units for safe operations
  • Collaborate with operators and engineers to implement strategies
  • Conduct root‑cause investigations and follow‑up actions
  • Execute MOC processes and participate in risk reviews (HAZOP, SIL)
  • Prepare scopes for turnarounds and review operating procedures
  • Perform process calculations and simulations for troubleshooting
  • Liaise with HSE team to ensure compliance with regulatory limits
Requirements
  • Chemical Engineering degree with eligibility for P.Eng. in Alberta
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in refinery, upgrader, or petrochemical operations
  • Knowledge of hydroprocessing, gasification, distillation, hydrogen production
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Ability to support projects and influence small teams
  • Experience with process simulation tools (Pro‑II, Pro Max, HTRI)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and plant engineering support
  • Willingness to work occasional after‑hours during operational upsets
