About the Job:
Tridon Communications is currently looking for a Low Voltage Estimator. This position can be based in either Edmonton or Calgary but will require travel to project locations or to customer sites.
The Low Voltage Estimator is responsible for the accurate and timely estimation of project costs related to low voltage systems, including structured cabling, security, access control, audio-visual, and other related systems. The Estimator will provide support to the Management and Operations team; and will be required to conduct occasional field & site assessments.
Responsibilities & Duties:
Advise on tending procedures, examine, and analyze tenders, recommend tender awards and conduct negotiationsEstablish and maintain tending process and set up cost monitoring and reporting system and proceduresPrepare cost and expenditure statements and forecasts at regular intervals for the duration of the projectPrepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors and subtractorsEstimate costs to complete project using approved client ratesCollaborate with all other departments and divisions to optimize efficiency and to ensure projects estimates are feasible and attainablePerform site walk-downs/ site visits to provide detailed intelligence on site specific requirements to aide in bidding/ estimating work packages if requiredAnalyzing blueprints to determine wire lengths as well as suitable outlet needs based on telecommunications standards requirementsDetermine the amount, type, and cost of materials including racking, power distribution needs and UPS requirementsDetermine the amount of labor required to complete each projectDetermine the potential profitability of communications projects including analysis of labor rates with management in order to assist in making sound bidding decisionsProvide viable solutions to increase project profitabilityCompleting and submitting competitive project bids in accordance with established guidelines of the project documentationEstablish relationships and consistent communication with distribution to create excellent price structures on multiple material line-upsConsistent and thorough communication with trade clientele in order to establish best relationship practices for closing of bid work. On time quotations and consistent follow up on submitted tenders.Other duties are required which are reasonably related to the role and further the best interests of the organizationExperience:
Minimum of 10 years of direct work experience in the Electrical or Communications FieldMinimum 5 years of in field hands-on experienceStrong Experience and fluency working with various types of construction and telecommunications projects drawings, and blueprintsFluent English language written and verbal skillsStrong planning and organization skillsExcellent negotiation and consulting skillsExperienced and knowledgeable of Microsoft Office and Adobe programsExperience with estimating software such as Accubid and Bluebeam is an assetPossess a valid Alberta Class 5 Operators License with a clean drives abstract as this role requires travel and attending job sites as requiredAbility to meet deadlines and commitments and to adjust/adapt to new ideas and proceduresResourceful, adaptable, high integrity, self-starterEducation:
2 years of post secondary in a related field (Electrical, Cabling, Wired and or Wireless Communications)Education or certifications in Construction Management or Estimation an assetAbout Us:
