Position: ESTIMATOR (Entry)
ESTIMATOR (Entry)-Edmonton, AB
Client is a Canadian company that offers custom metal products for railings, balconies, decks, extrusions and special fabrications. The Estimator will report to the VP of Sales and will be responsible for preparing plans and technical drawings for multi-unit/commercial projects, sketches, calculations, quotations, specification sheets and other data. You are innovative, creative and a team player who leads by example in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
RESPONSIBLIIES:Prepare estimates of probable costs of materials, labor and equipment, and subcontracts for projects based on contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings and specificationsLiaise, consult and communicate with engineers, design, production, and installation on all changes and adjustments to cost estimatesAdvise on tendering procedures, examine and analyze tenders, recommend tender awards and conduct negotiationsPrepare, maintain, and coordinate a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractorsSet up cost monitoring and reporting systems and proceduresMaintain and monitor schedules to ensure on-time, high-quality installationsAttend site meetings as neededAssist in monitoring construction conformity and compliance with plans, specifications, and codesPrepare cost and expenditure statements and forecasts at regular intervals for the duration of a projectParticipates in various departmental and interdepartmental meetings or training as requiredOther related duties as assignedStrong business and financial acumen; including strong business communication skills, both written and oralHigh-energy, detail-oriented, results-driven, self-motivated individualExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsReliability, integrity, passion and in-person presentation skills with a strong ability to establish relationships and close dealsExceptional, industry leading, customer service skills with a proven strength in exceeding client expectations and an ability to identify best product and fit for client needsExcellent planning, coordination, and scheduling skillsQUALIFICATIONS:2 to 5+ years’ experience in Estimating coordinating multiple projects; strong window anddoor industry knowledge an asset
University Degree in Architecture, Building Science, College Diploma related to construction, building envelopes or similar, is considered an assetA valid driver's license and access to a vehicle is an assetFamiliarity and/or experience with various computer software and technical systems by way of obtaining product quotes and managing customer informationPrevious experience in Installation considered an assetIntermediate level (or better) in CAD and Microsoft Excel required; experience with other drafting and estimating programs are an assetMust be flexible with work hours
