Student, Inspector - Hybrid

** Drayton Valley or Red Deer, Alberta  This student role will involve field verification of environmental requirements, specifically related to public lands, wildlife, and the Water Act. To uphold the AER’s mandate of environmental protection, this student position will be part of a focused inspection initiative designed to supplement the work of existing inspectors and provide compliance data to the Field Operations West team.

Analyze provincial data related to specific environmental requirements. Experience or knowledge in fisheries, oilfield construction, forestry, or soil sciences is considered an asset.  Ability to read and interpret legislation and approvals.  A pre-placement medical and a fully valid Class 5 driver’s license, along with a positive driving record, are required due to the field component of this role. Applicants must be willing to complete First Aid, ATV Safety, Driver Training, and H2S Alive training (provided as part of duties).

This role involves approximately 70% field work; therefore, travel within Alberta and occasional overnight trips will be required.

Should an individual with the required qualifications not be available, applicants with closely related qualifications may be considered. As a result, the position may be redesigned and/or reclassified.
