As the Industrial Mechanic (Millwright), you will be a key player in our continuous maintenance improvement program through daily troubleshooting and preventative maintenance strategies.
You'll Do
- Work safely using established SOPs, following all lockouts and protocols, and completing PTHAs.
- Preventative maintenance and repair of conveyors, various belt and chain transfer and drive systems, sawing, debarking, sorting, stacking, and compressors.
- Operate hoisting and lifting devices to position machinery and parts during the assembly, installation, set-up and repair of equipment and machinery.
- Work in man-lifts with the use of fall protection equipment.
- Repair and maintenance of hydraulic systems, pumps, valves and cylinders.
- Work positively in a team environment.
- Commitment to working safely and creating a safe workplace.
- Sawmill experience is an asset.
- A valid Inter-Provincial or Provincial Journeyperson Millwright certification or a Millwrighting Apprentice preparing to enroll in their 4th year.
- Mechanical aptitude; excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work closely with other trades and employees.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexible schedule for workdays, nights, and weekend shifts.
- The hourly pay rate for this position is $49.18 for a certified Journeyperson and $43.59 for a certified 4th-year apprentice.
- West Fraser will provide a 4th-year apprentice with the hours and schooling required to reach certified Journeyperson
