We are seeking for a Director of Quality
POSTION SUMMARYThe Director of Quality is responsible for leading, developing, and enforcing Knelsen’s unified, company-wide
quality control (QC) system across Ready Mix, Precast, Aggregates, and Asphalt operations. This role standardizes procedures, strengthens technical reliability, and ensures defensible, specification-compliant product performance.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Quality Systems & Standards
Develop, implement, and enforce unified QC standards and testing frequencies.Ensure every plant and division adheres to the company baseline—no exceptions.Own all mix designs and product specifications across all material lines.Lead the approval/sign-off process for all design changes.Conduct and oversee regular quality audits.2. Data, Reporting & Analytics
Build and maintain a centralized QC data system.Ensure QC data is complete, organized, and accessible within minutes.Standardize documentation and reporting workflows.Analyze trends to anticipate issues and recommend corrective actions.3. QC
Team LeadershipProvide solid-line leadership to all QC staff across Ready Mix, Precast, Aggregates & Asphalt.Oversee hiring, onboarding, training, performance, and discipline.Establish and maintain a certification framework for QC roles.Build a high-performing, technically credible team culture.4. Operational Alignment & Collaboration
Serve as the single technical voice on QC matters with owners, engineers, and regulators.Collaborate with operations to ensure compliance with specs and standards.Establish escalation protocols and issue-resolution processes.Provide coaching to operations teams on QC expectations and system use.QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCEEducation
Engineering Degree or Civil Engineering Technology DiplomaAdditional materials, QA/QC, or testing certifications an assetExperience
10+ years in QC, materials engineering, mix design, or plant/lab operationsExperience across Ready Mix, Asphalt, Aggregates, or PrecastProven leadership of technical teamsDemonstrated ability to build or overhaul systemsSkills & Attributes
Deep understanding of CSA/ASTM standardsStrong analytical, data-driven decision-makingAble to challenge status quo and influence senior leadersExcellent communication and conflict-resolution skillsConfident making high-stakes decisions under pressureBuilder of systems, not just operatorNote:This job description is a general outline of responsibilities and qualifications and is not exhaustive.
