Our Edmonton East location has an exciting opportunity for a Dispatcher to join our team!
What You Will Do:
The Dispatcher will coordinate FGI products/shipments while maintaining strong relationships with multiple drivers, be accountable for maximizing driver utilization, and communicate effectively internally and externally to successfully serve our customers. You will work with your Branch team members to deliver a high-quality customer experience that exceeds customer expectations through the following tasks:
Schedule/dispatch vehicles to appropriate locations by analyzing and determining the most efficient routes for drivers to take, considering factors such as traffic conditions, delivery schedules, breaks, time of day, weather, vehicle capabilities, and other variables. Optimize routes to minimize delays and fuel consumption.Verify customer orders and invoices before assigning drivers, including all documentation related to TDG (transporting dangerous goods), to ensure that it is accurate and in compliance with Transportation Canada.Provide exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries, providing updates on shipments, and resolving any issues that customers may have, including any delay, vehicle breakdowns, or customer complaints.Coordinate customer pickups and core returns using electronic delivery hardware as applicable (tablets or Sonim devices).Prepare and present reports on dispatch operations to management, support annual inventory count processes to highlight successes, challenges, and areas for improvement.Follow supervisor instructions in accordance with company policies, safe work procedures and practices, including the use of PPE, operation of all equipment safely, and complete required training to ensure proper use and workplace safety.Ensure consistent attendance and adherence to assigned work hours.May pick up orders in the warehouse for delivery and secure cargo to the vehicle (manual or forklift).Other duties as assigned.What We Require:
2 or more years of experience with GPS and routing software, specifically Geotab or Elite Extra, as well as strong geographic knowledge of the area served, combined with a High school diploma or equivalencyDemonstrated interest in logistics/transportation management is an assetKnowledge of local and regional traffic laws in addition to demonstrated ability to understand maps and effective routesAbility to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment with easeExcellent customer service skills – Dedicated to exceeding the expectations of internal and external customersStrong communication skills - Confident in delivering clear and detailed information to customers and team membersTeam-oriented, cooperative, adaptable, disciplined, and solution-focusedProfessionalism, integrity, and committed to safety and excellenceProficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and technology - Able to learn in-house systemsFamiliarity with aftermarket parts or heavy-duty parts is preferred but not requiredWhat We Offer:
