In Moray we do things a bit differently: we focus on relationships across the traditional boundaries of care to provide high‑quality, proactive, person‑centred care; we are small enough to be efficient, yet large enough to provide robust support and access to everything you need; clinicians influence and lead on developing models of care for our population; we value you as a professional and can be flexible in developing a job that allows you to explore your interests, deliver good care and respect your work‑life balance;
you can work and live in a beautiful, thriving corner of Scotland with world‑class leisure pursuits, welcoming people and a great quality of life.
- Applications are invited for Emergency Medicine Consultants to join a well‑established team of existing Consultants, dedicated to providing a high‑quality, Consultant‑led Emergency Care service.
- Full consideration will also be given to those interested in working across Emergency Care, Acute Medicine or Paediatrics.
- We fully support portfolio working across University or cross‑site posts; some Consultants also work in Pre‑hospital and Retrieval Medicine as part of the Emergency Medical Retrieval Service (EMRS) within the Scottish Ambulance Scot Star Service.
Dr Gray’s Hospital is situated in Elgin, the county town of Moray, in North‑East Scotland, five miles from the coastal town of Lossiemouth. It is the only centre in Grampian out‑with Aberdeen providing a range of acute services. On‑site services include General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, General Medicine, Paediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynaecology. There is an Acute Medical Assessment Unit, a Stroke and Rehabilitation ward, a Day Care ward, a Consultant‑led Psychiatry service and a multi‑professional Mental Health service to the ED.
Hyper‑acute stroke management takes place in the ED, with support from Acute Stroke Consultants in Aberdeen, now progressing to thrombectomy transfers in selected cases. The hospital has been redeveloped with modern equipment, a library, a Postgraduate Medical Centre, 24/7 videoconferencing facilities and a new Clinical Skills Centre (CSC) providing continuous learning for staff and students.
Dr Gray’s has a close‑knit team of 35 Consultants across the acute sector, providing a Consultant‑led service in a small‑hospital atmosphere of friendly cooperation. There is a good rapport with local General Practitioners.
Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC is required; licence must be in place prior to starting. For trained UK doctors evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or confirmation of entry on the GMC Specialist Register within six months of interview date is required. CESR or Portfolio Pathway doctors are only eligible once registration is awarded.
International recognised specialist qualifications approved by GMC and confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register are also acceptable. Doctors not on the GMC Specialist Register may be considered for a Locum Consultant post (up to 12 months) if no substantive appointment is made. Cesr or portfolio path doctors may apply for registration while employed as locum.
