Cost Controller
Balfour Beatty plc has an exciting opportunity for a Cost Controller on our ASTI projects.
AboutThe Role
As a Cost Controller, you will report directly to the Senior Finance Manager and interface with the Site Project Team, HR, and Balfour Beatty Newcastle and wider finance teams.
- Assisting the project team with cost queries and gaining backup/validation to costs
- Supporting the Commercial function by ensuring correct cost allocation and running weekly cost reports
- Variance analysis of actual vs forecast costs
- Monitoring and tracking of costs
- Performing any additional tasks to assist the Senior Finance Manager or project staff
- Liaising with external suppliers and contractors
- Working with client stakeholders to facilitate audits and provide cost samples for audit validation
- Supporting Finance Manager and Commercial Lead with ad‑hoc analysis
- Flexible position—may be project‑based or office‑based, but site travel will be required
- Highly motivated, proactive and practical individual
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment within set timescales
- Thrives in a busy environment and enjoys a challenge
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Highly organised and able to work on own initiative
- Ability to review and prioritise tasks accurately
- Strong IT literacy, preferably with Oracle R12 accounts system (not essential)
- Full driving licence
- Understanding of Oracle R12 CVR (link between Commercial Project reporting and Financial Project reporting)
