An established building services consultancy is seeking a highly motivated Principal (or above) Electrical Design Engineer to join their leadership team. This is an excellent opportunity for a client-facing engineer to lead a growing team, drive high-value projects, and play a key role in shaping the future direction of the practice.

As a Principal Electrical Engineer, you will take the lead on projects valued up to £300m across a wide range of sectors. You'll be responsible for overseeing the full project lifecycle (RIBA Stages 1-6), providing technical excellence, and ensuring the successful delivery of innovative, sustainable electrical designs. You will also lead and mentor a team of 8 engineers, developing talent while maintaining a culture of collaboration and quality.

They work across a mix of projects including residential, commercial, education and mixed-use.

• Lead and deliver electrical design on large-scale, complex projects up to £300m in value.
• Act as the primary client interface, building and maintaining strong relationships.
• Manage and mentor a team of 8 engineers, ensuring technical excellence and career development.
• Oversee design stages from concept through to completion (RIBA 1-6).
• Ensure compliance with regulations, standards, and industry best practice.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and external stakeholders.
• Contribute to business development and the continued growth of the consultancy.

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in electrical design engineering within the building services sector.
• Track record of leading project delivery and managing multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent technical knowledge of electrical systems, regulations, and sustainable design practices.
• Strong client-facing and communication skills, with the ability to build lasting relationships - this is essential!
• Ability to work across all RIBA stages and deliver high-value, complex projects.
