The Ellsworth School Department is seeking a collaborative, innovative, and student-centered Mathematics Interventionist to support students at both Ellsworth Elementary-Middle School (Grades 6–8) and the Hancock County Technical Center (HCTC).

This position plays a key role in our Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) by providing targeted mathematics intervention for middle school students while also supporting students enrolled in HCTC's Academic Program. In addition, this position includes co-teaching one 8th grade mathematics class, working alongside a classroom teacher to provide high-quality instruction and support for all learners.

The successful candidate will believe that every student can become a confident mathematical thinker and will use evidence-based instructional practices to help students develop conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and mathematical reasoning.

The successful candidate will:
  • Provide targeted mathematics intervention for students in grades 6–8 through the district's MTSS framework.
  • Support students enrolled in the Hancock County Technical Center Academic Program by providing individualized and small-group mathematics instruction that promotes success in a variety of pathways.
  • Deliver engaging, evidence-based instruction that emphasizes high-leverage mathematical concepts while developing conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and problem-solving skills.
  • Co-teach one 8th grade mathematics class, collaborating with the classroom teacher to provide meaningful access and support for all learners.
  • Use universal screening, progress monitoring, classroom assessments, and other student data to identify student needs, monitor growth, and adjust instruction.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, special educators, counselors, technical center staff, and administrators to develop and implement effective intervention plans.
  • Support the continuous improvement of Tier I mathematics instruction by sharing instructional strategies and collaborating around student learning.
  • Participate as an active member of the school's MTSS process, helping teams identify barriers to learning and develop responsive supports.
  • Build positive relationships with students and families while fostering confidence, perseverance, and mathematical reasoning.
  • Engage in professional learning and contribute to a collaborative school culture focused on continuous improvement and student achievement.
Qualifications
  • Valid Maine Teacher Certification (or eligibility) with appropriate Maine 6-12 Math Certification (300S)
  • Knowledge of evidence-based mathematics instruction and intervention practices.
  • Experience using assessment data to inform instructional decisions and monitor student growth.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to equitable learning opportunities and high expectations for every student.
